Reynold Scott Magnuson — Architect
I am currently a Project Architect at Gensler.
My personal work is driven by a consistent philosophical approach, not a predetermined style. As a result each building is intimately connected to its context and function and has a distinct physical presence.
A priority in every project is to consider the feeling and quality of spaces for living, working or public use. Careful consideration is given to the choice of materials used, the way they are detailed, and how the project as a whole will weather and mature over time. This often leads to surprising and innovative uses of simple materials as well as a high level of craftsmanship.
The clarity of each project is due to a collaborative approach to design. Working with my Client’s vision and budget, ideas are constantly being reworked and refined to the last detail in order to present a clear unified whole. Traditional hand drawings and scale models are critical to dialogue during the design process as are digital drawings, models and renderings.
My prime conviction is to create buildings that reflect the values, lifestyles, issues, and technologies of today. Being greatly influenced by architecture of the past, I want to honor the time we live in by building lasting architectural artifacts — authentic representations of the culture and era that made them.
